The collections of Tracé – Community Archives of Limburg and the Historical Centre of Limburg contain over 24,000 letterheads dating from 1850 to around 2000. A letterhead is the printed inscription on the letterhead paper of a business or institution – such as an invoice, a quote, or a letter.
With the Limburg Letterhead Project, Tracé aims to digitise these letterheads of Limburg entrepreneurs and make them accessible to all through a vast online database. Since spring 2024, a group of enthusiastic volunteers has been contributing to the description and data entry.
This mini-exhibition complements the work "Maastrichtse Briefhoofden" (Letterheads of Maastricht), in which historians (of culture), heritage specialists, and cultural science researchers present different aspects of these unique printed documents. The exhibition brings these stories to life through colourful examples from Maastricht.
