From 3rd July 2026 to 1st August 2027, the Museums of Verviers pay tribute to the painter Philippe Derchain (1873‑1947), a major figure of the Verviers School.
Bringing together a remarkable collection of rarely shown works from public and private collections, the exhibition reveals a painter who makes the simplest moments resonate: an interior bathed in silence, a landscape crossed by light, a suspended gesture. Just like Maurice Pirenne and Georges Le Brun, Derchain is classified among the Verviers Intimists, in reference to their shared aesthetic where the silence of interiors, the tranquility of landscapes, and the meticulousness of gestures reign.
