Group exhibition - We Live Here Too
31.08 > 01.03.2026
It is sometimes said that we love animals because we do not understand them. The absence of a common language allows for the projection of feelings. Observing the precarious state of the Dutch landscape, the needs of animals seem to be little taken into account. How do animals feel this pressure on their environment?
In the exhibition We Live Here Too, the artists make perceptible the impact of human actions on animals. All the animals that are given a voice through the artworks are present in the region around the estate: from cows to kingfishers and dogs. Often through a change of perspective: how does an animal perceive the changing landscape? And to what extent can silence be interpreted as consent?
We Live Here Too is an exhibition about the landscape that humans share with animals, about language, and about the impossible attempt to fully understand an animal.
We Live Here Too is organised by guest curator Lieneke Hulshof (1993, Winterswijk), known for her projects on the Dutch landscape, where the relationship between humans and nature, tradition and change are at the heart of concerns. The exhibition features new and recent works by Taqwa Ali (SD, 1997), Mounir Eddib (BE, 1995), Vibeke Mascini (NL, 1989), Stef Veldhuis (NL, 1992), Jori(k) Galama (NL, 1992), Bart Houwers (NL, 1997), Juul Kraijer (NL, 1970) and Janis Rafa (GR, 1984).
