La Boverie celebrates its tenth anniversary: behind the scenes of an exceptional collection
from 29 May to 23 August 2026
On the occasion of itstenth anniversary(2016–2026), La Boverie presents from 29 May to 23 August 2026 an unprecedented anniversary exhibition that invites the public to discover the workings of a large museum from the inside, through the rich collection of Fine Arts of the City of Liège, recognised for the exceptional quality of its works.
More than 250 pieceswill be brought together: iconicmasterpieces and works rarely, if ever, exhibited. The public will be able to rediscover major works from the collection, as well ass et des œuvres rarement, voire jamais exposées. Le public pourra redécouvrir des œuvres majeures issues de la collection, ainsi que destreasures rarely presentedto the public - including pieces by Kees Van Dongen, James Ensor, Pablo Picasso, René Magritte, Henri Matisse, Vincent Van Gogh, Eugène Boudin, Emile Claus, and many others.
Spread across the entire ground floor, the exhibition will clearly and dynamically reveal themultiple missions of the museum: conservation, restoration, scientific analysis, exhibition mounting, management of reserves, international loans… The works will interact with each other to vividly illustrate the often-overlooked role of a museum institution.
More than a retrospective, this celebration aims to be anopen, festive moment accessible to all: meetings, activities, events and surprises will punctuate the whole season, inviting everyone to (re)discover La Boverie and its remarkable heritage.
